A weekly work report is the sheet an employee or supervisor sends to their manager with what was done that week, what slipped and why, and the plan for next week. This page has a weekly report, a daily report in four versions and a team task log that downloads as Excel. Type the tasks and hours into the page and each task's completion rate and the overall rate are calculated.
Completion rate = hours done ÷ hours planned. The weekly example has five tasks with 36 hours planned and 31 done, so the rate is 86%; the drawings approval task alone is 6 of 8 hours, or 75%.
How to use the work report template
- Choose Weekly report or Daily report, then the example closest to your job.
- Type your name and the company name on the page, and set the week start or the report date.
- Edit the task rows: the task, its result, and the hours planned and done.
- List each issue with a fix, then the plan for the next period.
- Download the report as Word or PDF, or open the log tab to collect the team's work.
Daily and weekly work reports: what each one is for
A daily report records one day's tasks with their hours and the problems that came up, which suits fast-moving work such as construction sites, security and field sales. A weekly report summarises the five working days from Sunday to Thursday, the standard week in Saudi Arabia, and adds delayed tasks and next week's plan. Managers read daily reports to step in the same day and weekly reports to reset priorities.
How to write a weekly work report
Order achievements by impact, not by date: pouring the second-floor slab comes before updating the schedule. Write results as figures ("60% collected, balance next week") rather than "followed up". Give every issue a proposed fix, as in the example: "consultant reply delayed -> daily call until approved". The delayed-tasks table holds the original date, the new date and the reason. Choose Whole team for a combined team report and start each task with the owner's name. Download it as Word to edit before you send it.
Daily work report template
The daily report has the date, tasks completed in hours, problems, notes and signatures. In the site engineer example, four tasks were planned at 8 hours and 6 were done, so completion is 75%; Advanced mode adds the project name and the number of workers on site. The sales supervisor example covers customer visits and collections, and the daily security report covers patrols, the visitor log and the shift.
Word or Excel for team reports
Word suits a written report from one person, signed by their manager. The task log downloads as an Excel file with real formulas: the rate on each row, total hours, the team rate and the number of late tasks. Its example has eight tasks for four employees, 34 hours planned and 27 done, so the team rate is 79.4%, with two late tasks highlighted.
Common mistakes in work reports
- Repeating the same task on several days with no progress, which inflates the hours done.
- Listing activities without their results.
- Naming an issue with no proposed fix and no owner.
- A weekly report with no clear period, so it cannot be compared with the week before.
